Orihuela Costa and Cabo Roig: a privileged enclave on the Costa Blanca

The Costa Blanca covers the stretch of Mediterranean coastline corresponding to the province of Alicante and perfectly represents the typical Mediterranean landscape: a blend of bright light, generous nature, pleasant temperatures all year round, and a constant connection between the coast and the inland areas.

Just a few kilometers from the monumental city of Orihuela, declared a Historic-Artistic and Monumental Site, and very close to the vibrant coastal city of Torrevieja, lies Orihuela Costa. This area spans a long stretch of coastline, home to residential developments primarily composed of single-family homes, offering a peaceful atmosphere and a perfect balance with green spaces.

Orihuela Costa boasts 16 km of coastline, featuring alternating crystal-clear cliffs and wide beaches with fine golden sand, such as Punta Prima, Playa Flamenca, La Zenia, Cabo Roig, Campoamor, and Mil Palmeras. These beaches are annually awarded the Blue Flag distinction for their water quality, services, and environmental management—making them a benchmark both nationally and internationally.

Its beaches, coves, and marinas (Cabo Roig and Campoamor) are ideal for practicing water sports all year round, thanks to the area’s privileged climate, with an average temperature of around 20ºC and more than 300 days of sunshine per year.

The nautical offering is complemented by excellent golf courses located just a short distance from the sea, as well as all kinds of services, sports centers, a wide variety of gastronomy, and the Zenia Boulevard shopping center—one of the largest in the province.

Cabo Roig: The Jewel of Orihuela Costa

Located at the southernmost tip of the Costa Blanca, Cabo Roig is one of the most exclusive and sought-after areas on the Alicante coastline. Its geography combines golden sandy beaches with stunning cliffs—a rare blend that creates several kilometers of unique coastline, traversed by a wonderful seaside promenade that encircles the entire cape and connects its two main beaches, “La Caleta” and “Cala Capitán”, with the marina and yacht club.

The rocky areas and cliffs, together with crystal-clear waters, also offer a true delight for diving enthusiasts.

The Cabo Roig promenade is not only renowned for its beauty but also for its conservation and respect for the natural surroundings. It’s a 2.4 km walk—unique and charming—with breathtaking views and five viewpoints where you can enjoy its rugged cliffs—of geological interest and a characteristic reddish hue—surrounded by protected Mediterranean vegetation and shimmering turquoise and emerald waters. These waters host meadows of Posidonia oceanica, forming true underwater forests that shelter a wide variety of marine life.

This coastal trail has been awarded the Blue Trail distinction—an accolade that recognizes environmental quality and scenic value in routes that connect natural spaces of cultural and heritage significance with Blue Flag beaches.

Cabo Roig also features important heritage landmarks, such as the Cabo Roig Tower, a 16th-century military watchtower declared a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC), built to defend the coast from Berber pirate attacks.

In addition to its natural and cultural richness, Cabo Roig stands out especially for the charm of its carefully planned and harmonious urban development, thoughtfully designed and perfectly integrated with its surroundings.

The crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean, the almost tropical vegetation that thrives thanks to the privileged climate, and the peace and privacy of Cabo Roig make it an ideal place to live year-round or enjoy as a second home during holidays.
